Martin Lewis has urged Sainsbury's customers to use their Nectar Points now.

The money saving guru has shared an important bit of advice about the Sainsbury's loyalty scheme in a bid to help customers get more out of their points.

The financial guru, who is the founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss Nectar Cards and points.

Martin urged cardholders to cash in on their points immediately as they're currently worth more.

Speaking on the ITV show, Martin said: "If you’ve a stash of Nectar points, now’s a good time to use them."

This is because Sainsbury's is running a Double Up event, starting next week.

Martin explained: "Go online from November 5, or use the Nectar app from November 13 to 19, and you can get double the vouchers for your points – so 1,000 points will get you a £10 double up voucher instead of the usual £5."

He added: "You can spend up to £100 in double-up vouchers in Sainsbury’s stores in any of these 11 categories - cosmetics, electricals, entertainment, fragrance, gifts, homeware, seasonal goods, skincare, Taste the Difference wines, toys and Tu clothing."

Martin also explained Tesco's new Clubcard Plus Subscription to savvy viewers.

He told viewers: "Tesco’s launching a new Clubcard Plus subscription service on November 8, which gives perks like discounted shopping for a monthly fee of £7.99.

"You’d also get the usual benefits of the Clubcard scheme, which won’t be changing – so you can still earn points on spending and boost them to triple their value."

Birmingham Live reports that the Money Saving Expert continued: "For most people the big benefit is the 10% two shops.

"If you spend £80 plus over two shops every month in Tesco stores it is worth it, as your gain is the same or more than the fee – if you max it out you’ll be £32 a month up.

"Tesco has learnt from Amazon Prime that when people pay for a subscription they’re more loyal, so bizarrely it will tend to get the benefit of the subscription fee and more sticky shoppers by doing this."

How does the Sainsbury’s Double Up event work?

Customers need a minimum of 1,000 Nectar points to take part in Double Up and the maximum amount you can double up is 10,000 – which is normally worth £50 but would be worth £100 as part of the event.

Unfortunately, you can’t exchange points in store, but Sainsbury’s has said staff can help those who are having trouble with it online or through the app.

The Nectar helpline is also there to help if you call on 0344 811 0811.
