A gran-of-two says she feels “more energetic” now than she did in her 20s.
This is probably because Kimberly Lip has undergone a dramatic weight loss transformation in recent years.
The American woman, from Coffeen, Illinois, started hitting the gym in her 40s.
This sparked her love for fitness – and she’s now a certified personal trainer and nutritionist.
The 57-year-old hopes sharing her story will inspire others to live healthier lifestyles.
Kimberly vowed to kick her bad habits when she was in her mid 40s.
She explained: "At the age of 45 I was overweight and out of shape.
"We ate junk food and did not have healthy options in our household.
"I decided that I either had two choices - keep gaining weight every year or do something about it.
“So in January 2008, I joined a gym and that began my journey to health and fitness.”
The glam gran soon got hooked on going to the gym – and now she trains six times a week.
She tones up by weight lifting and gets her heart pumping with high intensity interval training.
Kimberly explained: "I do a body split training. On Monday I train legs, Tuesday I do shoulders, Wednesday is back and chest, Thursday are for glutes and hamstrings and Friday is biceps and triceps.
“On Saturday I do a HIIT workout and also train legs and glutes.”
Following her dramatic transformation, the qualified PT decided to open up her own fitness studio.
She hopes that she can use this space to inspire other ladies to make positive changes to their lives.
Kimberly remarked: "The thing I am most proud of is now after making my transformation to be in the best shape of my life, it created a career change for me.
"Once others seen my transformation, they wanted me to help them so I opened up a gym in the basement of my house in a very small town in Coffeen, IL .
"We only have 600 people in our town. The lives that are being changed not only here at my gym, but through our online program is incredible.
"Women at all ages are making life changing transformations. I am so proud to be their inspiration and motivation.
“(It shows) them they can do it at any age.”
Kimberly, who is happily married, recommends swerving fad diets in favour of exercise and eating healthily to turn back the clock.
She added: "Yes as we age of course we struggle with hormones and our metabolism slowing down. Energy is also a big issue.
"Once we start eating the right foods and doing the right exercises, it is amazing how at this age you can build lean muscle and have amazing energy again.
"Age is just a number and I believe you can have or be anything you want if you work hard and believe in yourself.
“I have clients that are standing on stage in bikini's in the ages of 50, 60s and even 70s.”
